Six emergency medical technicians have been hired as part of a pilot program to staff a basic life support ambulance.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Charleston County EMS operates primarily with BLS, or basic life support, only ambulances. Those ambulances are only staffed with basic life support certified EMT's on board.
