PPF is very different than vinyl and so is the installation process. The material that PPF is made of, TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), stretches and responds to heat in a unique way, meaning it should be installed using positive tension to hook corners and edges. You can use a fine-tip torch to blast the edge with heat and activate the adhesive, however you should generally avoid using a heater or heat lamp when pulling and manipulating the film.
