⭐️EXCITING NEWS⭐️ An endangered okapi has been born! Our newest arrival has been named Meghan, in celebration of this year's royal wedding. Meghan was born to first-time mum Oni, with keepers watching on camera from the next room, and we're really pleased with how mother and baby are doing. | London Zoo

Did you know that okapi are territorial animals? This helps to explain why they are solitary. Okapi have multiple ways of marking their territory including a scent gland on each foot which releases a tar-like substance to indicate the area is theirs. Furthermore, they can also secrete urine to mark their territory, as can be seen from this footage from one of our camera traps. | Okapi Conservation Project

We collected this footage with one of our camera traps on Mount Mbia, just 1 km outside of Epulu where the Okapi Wildlife Reserve headquarters are located.
