Sewing on buttons by machine! Use a Button Sewing Foot. Disengage feed teeth of machine. Place button under the foot so the button’s holes are visible in front of the foot. Select zigzag stitch with stitch width about 4mm; Turn handwheel toward you slowly to check that the zigzag clears holes - adjust stitch width as necessary for your button. One of the easiest ways to learn about your new sewing machine is to create a stitch sampler. Sew all the different stitches in multiple lengths and widths, record each setting, and keep them together by your machine. Next time you want to use something other than a straight stitch, reference your sampler to find the best stitch for your project. We've made ours a little more fun by using a variegated thread!
