The Hampton Hack is a brilliant way of encouraging fresh growth and more flowers from perennials that have finished flowering for the season. Cutting them to just above ground level (about 10cm) will promote fresh new foliage and with enough time, more flowers too. Just be sure to water and feed after cutting to give the plant the boost it needs. So be brave – and get snipping.
